The Emergent Proxy
This personal project has inspired some of my favorite work to-date. The Emergent Proxy is a tabletop roleplaying game campaign that’s being run by my favorite person, Matthew Marcell. He’s got an amazing concept for restyling the Pathfinder RPG for a cyberpunk setting. The ideas are really compelling and I wanted him to be able to advertise the campaign with a poster worthy of his work.
I pulled down images from some of the source material he used in designing the game mechanics and fused them with the overall gestalt of one of our favorite video games: Deus Ex Human Revolution. That game had style and an impeccable sense of postmodern design. I referenced their strong use of yellow and their Bladerunner-esque smoky palette.
Each of the characters here are meant to represent possible choices for players in the campaign, and I wanted to make sure that they represented a degree of multicultural diversity. To that end, I made some alterations to the resources for each of the characters. They also got grungy city backgrounds pulled from a variety of Cyberpunk media.
It should be noted that this campaign will be a simple, local affair and Matt will be running it free of charge for his players. Oh, and I get to play. Heck yes.
